I turn a light on either to my left, right, front, or above in front so plenty of light is on my face.

I keep taking pictures from different angles and delete the ones I dislike.

Don't delete all the pictures you don't like if they're not TOO bad.

You'll find later that some of those don't look so bad after all.

Especially with some cropping if there's something in the picture you don't like.
